Should a woman resign to “fate” or design her tomorrow.

Updated: Sep 25, 2021

We all have enough reasons to resign in life. We have enough experiences (lived and observed) to throw in the towel in this ring, called life. We have witnessed first-hand the horrors and pain of life.

Many can showcase the multiple experts they listened to in the past, the various ventures they tried their hands on, but all to no avail.

Are you at the point where the question of resigning becomes the only valid option at the moment? Then, please bear with me. Let’s have a conversation.

My answer to the question “Should a woman resign to fate or design her tomorrow” would be every woman and daughter should resign to their original design for life.

Resign?

We are absolutely right when we say, “I can’t go any further in life like this”. We look at our brief history and agree we have lost time and ground in our pursuit for success. Our visions of life and our involvement are now blurred.

We list a platitude of valid reasons like, the lack of finances, bankruptcy, poor health, broken promises, lack of networks, abuse, anxieties, disabilities, retrenchment, old age, etc as formidable allies that constantly align themselves against our pursuit and goals for life.

As a result, every new day appears to be a rerun of our yesterday. I hear people say, “the opportunities available to me today are in my judgment out of reach and above my pay grade or experience.

So, it appears my only logical option is to resign to life. I will allow the winds of life to take me whichever place it chooses. I am not a pessimist ; I am a realist”.

Now, before we resign to fate, let’s pause to reflect.

Design?

Is it possible that in trying to achieve my goals, I have taken on board people’s ideas that are not suited to my person?

Is it possible, we have allowed our internal bias to refrain us from listening to some success stories because we judge them as unrealistic or far-fetched?

Every new day presents us with a choice. RESIGN to our present status quo, which in every sense of the word is more appealing and compelling to me or DESIGN and set out a new pathway for a different future but I have no aptitude for this option.

Design requires thinking, energy, research, listening, learning, and attempting many ventures which I presently have no appetite for. Why we may ask, is design our only option to engage and pursue our life purposes.

Designing our tomorrow is expensive. We will have to confront our fears and address the voices we constantly hear about ourselves.

We have so many but’s to address and we simply do not know where to start. Some people say the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. But my concern is, what happens if my first step is in the wrong direction, or I really don’t know where to plant my first step towards my tomorrow.

Now you appreciate my concern. Should I resign to what and where I am or design a tomorrow that fits with my life potentials?

Our lives are in seasons and many times we prefer the comfort of the cocoon to the beauty of liberty. We often hear people say, "If it is not broken, don't fix it". we fail to realise that if we don't break it today, it won’t be fit for anyone's use or good tomorrow.

We often forget we are human, and our nature is always in perpetual motion towards or away from pain. There seems to be a hidden war within us to choose our well-being or despise our well-being.

One of the greatest qualities of our nature is the liberty of choice. We may be physically imprisoned yet write and experience freedom beyond the walls of that confinement. We are exceptional creatures gifted by LOVE to live and experience life on earth.

Resign to your design

As a woman, you should only resign to your original design.

It is a good place to find yourself asking the question should I resign or seek to design my tomorrow. Every woman has a unique contribution to make to our world. Success is tied to her original design and life purpose, not necessarily her bank balance, public awards, or accolades.

We must never be afraid to ask:

  • What is my purpose?

  • What are my life goals?

  • What was I gifted with life for on earth?

Life is empty without purpose. Until our successes are defined by the lives of the people we reach, positively affect, contribute to, we are empty. Our words and actions are the seeds we plant in our homes, communities, and the nations we engage with.

No woman is an accident. You have your feet on the very first rung of your life goal. Where you are today, is the first step in that journey. Life, we must remember is a journey and not a destination.

We must always remind ourselves that we are gifted with items that are needed and essential in the table called life. You must never see your contributions as "out of place".

We must choose by our actions if we become the songs of joy or the groaning of pain in the hearts of others.
